Just Venus Fly Traps is a small part-time enterprise run solely by myself. I am Ian Davies and I have been interested in plants since childhood. My interest started with cacti from about the age of 10, then on a visit to a garden centre in S. Wales whilst on holidays I came across my first Venus Fly Trap. I was transfixed and immediately spent all my holiday money to acquire this amazing plant. I spent a large part of the rest of my holiday feeding flies to my Venus fly trap and watching it undergoing the slow process of digesting its victims. Like most children I was curious to see what else this plant could 'eat', and ended up feeding it pieces of cheese and bacon amongst other things. The plant of course could not handle my experimentation and promptly died, but this got me fascinated in this plant which has stayed with me ever since. I killed a couple more Venus Fly Traps before I learned about their particular requirements from a library book (there was no internet in those days).

I since went on to study Biology and Marine Biology at University and later a PhD in Cell Biology. I have always kept Venus Fly Traps, on and off, when I have had the space and time. Later in life I developed an interest in computers and programming, and when the internet took off my interest in website development grew. I have developed a number of websites over the years and recently thought it would be a good idea to combine my interests in plants and the internet to develop a commercial site to sell Venus Fly Traps, hence Just Venus Fly Traps was born.
